I don't even know where to begin...

First of all, I had a wonderful day yesterday. Practice music at school and then a movie night at Kimberly Spragg's house. And I made a cake and chocolate chip cookies and we had a surprise party for Julie, since it was her 22nd birthday. Then I spent the night at Julie's homestay and we stayed up to some rediculously late hour practicing my songs and talking about anime and writing. It was blast.

Then it was up early to get to school for a voice lesson, a short break, and then I begin recording at 1pm. An hour and a half from now. I'm not sure if I'm excited, terrified, or too tired to care. lol. I'm feeling more confident with the music though, so that's good.

My voice lessons are driving me crazy. My voice teacher is good, and she can certainly help me a lot, but she and I just clash horribly. She treats me like I'm five... It was interesting, because I've been so frustrated with the product of my lessons lately. I'm not singing at my potential, and she stops me every 20 seconds or so with a new correction, so I got to the point where I didn't even really know what I sounded like on these songs because I spent so much time stopping and starting. And then she got upset that everything sounded disconnected. Surprise surprise. Funny enough, it was last lesson when everything changed. I was tired and I was just beginning to get a sore throat. She was being condenscending and I just decided I didn't care what she thought any more. Normally she scares me. Then she just ticked me off. So I sang the way I wanted to, with my energy and joy. I did add her techniques, because she does know what she's talking about, but I just stopped being scared of her. She claims it was a completely different singer. I say she would have heard this the whole time if she'd actually listened in the first place. Today was a similar experience. She couldn't believe the difference. I'm wondering why this didn't happen sooner. Ah well.

I officially need a new computer. Right now this one is working, but it's becoming more and more obvious that I'll be lucky if it lasts through the year. I defragment it regularly and everything, and I take care of it. I don't drop it or leave it behind or anything. I'm really very protective of it. But some of the keys have begun popping off as I'm typing, the disk drive periodically gets stuck and refuses to go back into the computer, the pads that hold it off the table have started breaking off so the fan doesn't get as much room and, though the fan definitely still works, the computer still heats up enough that - if I try and watch a movie - it starts jumping and skipping because the overheating is causing a problem. I can only get through about 20 minutes at a time, and then I have to wait an hour for it to cool down. Of course, that's a worse case scenario... sometimes it works just fine... but the frequency of the mishaps is beginning to worry me. Windows also has, a few times, just decided not to load. There's no virus on my computer.... I've triple checked and had others do the same... but it still happens about once a month. And then I have to restart the computer in safe mode and play until I reset everything to where it worked at an earlier date so that it works again. Quite frustrating. I'll need to start looking into new computers and soon, but hopefully this can last the last 2 months here. I need this for work, but I'm afraid it might just give up soon.

Oh, final note on internet access. My house finally got wireless. They installed the router and set it up and it works just fine. Only problem is, my wireless card isn't recognizing it. Neither is Steph's. So we need to figure out what is blocking it. One of the other girls here thought that they might have their server closed, so it's keeping the unfamiliar computers out. We're trying to figure out how to fix it thought. Ah well. Hopefully soon. -.-

It looks like New Zealand is officially out of the picture, and staying an extra week isn't going to happen either. The school would cover the cost of the tickets and housing, but they wouldn't pay for food... so I'd have to provide all my own meals for a week. And I couldn't stay in my homestay. I would have to move out for the week and relocate to student housing, which I really don't want to do. And, if I stay, I miss the Messiah concert back home and I really want to try and sing in it, rather than miss it this year. So I think I'll just save the money in both cases and just focus on events around Sydney. I've started looking into the productions that are being put on right now. We'll see what I can find. ^.^

Okay... so this is an ad for a beer commercial. But it's great. So check it out anyway. ^.^

It's one of the aussie ads and for some reason all of us Americans adore it. Go figure. Enjoy!
